Constructed circa 1836 this Georgian house was built for William Crane (1785-1853), merchant, politician and business partner of Charles Frederick Allison, founder of Mount Allison University. In 1867, the property passed to Josiah Wood (1843-1927), lawyer, Senator, and Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick, 1912-1917. Acquired by Mount Allison University in 1975, Cranewood currently serves as the residence of the University's President. |
