Herbert Tracy Block
23-25 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B.

THE HERBERT TRACY BLOCK
c. 1900.

This building probably dates from the early 1900s. For many years the left side housed a barber shop, while the right side was used for a variety of commercial purposes including stores, offices and a restaurant.

After being badly damaged in the 1938 fire the building was purchased by Herbert Tracy (brother of Oscar Tracy) who undertook its repair and reconstruction. Permission to extend the wood frame building was denied by the Town Council; the rebuilding was to be confined to the existing structure. The Tracy family lived in an apartment on the second floor.

The upper level was at one time covered in asphalt brick siding, which was replaced with aluminum siding.

In 2002 the building was taken over by Striker's Bar.

This building is within the Town of Sackville Municipal Heritage Conservation Area A.
